Tammy Alger

Today’s #HCSHeroes Spotlight is Tammy Alger, a clerical assistant at Wolftever Creek Elementary School. Mrs. Alger has gone above and beyond to ensure families and students have what they need to succeed this school year.

“She truly cares about anyone and everyone associated with the school,” said Mallary Netterville, an educational assistant at Wolftever. “This year for our families with transportation issues, she even delivered items to students' homes so they wouldn't fall behind in learning. We couldn't ask for a better employee or team member. I am forever grateful to call Tammy a co-worker!”

Mrs. Alger, who has been with the district for fifteen years, is usually the first person to greet families when they enter the building. This school year has presented challenges for how families physically connect with their school, but Mrs. Alger has worked hard to maintain a sense of community at Wolftever.

“Because we are trying to limit the potential exposure of COVID-19, we are not currently allowing parent volunteers or visitors inside the building,” said Mrs. Alger. “This has been a big adjustment for everyone because we have always welcomed parent visits and volunteers in the past. Our school truly has a big heart and I want to be sure our families still feel valued and connected even if that means our conversations are now held over the phone or at the front door. I want them to know that we are still here for them and their children in whatever capacity they may need us.”

The efforts of our teachers and staff are truly heroic, and we are proud to have people like Mrs. Alger on our team to support our students!
