Today’s #HCSHeroes Spotlight is Jennifer White, outreach facilitator for the North River Learning Community. Mrs. White is responsible for engaging and supporting families whose children attend schools in the North River Learning Community.

“Since school shut down last summer, Mrs. Jennifer has brought school breakfast and lunch, and also gave each of my five children books to read,” said Misty Satterwhite, a parent. “She also took the time to bring school supplies and other goodies for all my kids. She calls and texts to check on us.”

Mrs. Satterwhite adds, “She’s the most humble, helpful, genuine, caring human being walking this planet! She has done so much for our family, and we're all happy to know her and blessed to have her in our lives! She’s a true HCS Hero!”

Mrs. White, who has worked in Hamilton County Schools for 17 years, spends her days connecting North River families and schools to resources in the community. When the pandemic caused schools to suddenly close last March, Mrs. White was vital to keeping families informed and supported. Whether it was connecting a family to food resources or helping a family understand the changes this school year, Mrs. White played an important role supporting the North River community through the pandemic.

“From the beginning of COVID, I have seen many moving parts come together,” said Mrs. White. “The Cares Team made sure our families had food which the students would typically have during the school day. These drop offs became my favorite part of a busy week.”

Mrs. White adds, “I am blessed to get to see many sides of HCS. I see our students supported by our community members daily, and I get to see ideas become realities for our students by our students. I get to see the passion teachers have for their students on campus and off.”

The efforts of our teachers and staff are truly heroic, and we are proud to have people like Mrs. White on our team to support our students!
