The best way to learn how a school program is making a difference in the lives of students is to hear from the young participants themselves. Future Ready Institutes in Hamilton County Schools will send teen representatives from their programs to be trained as student ambassadors this Friday at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga to help them share their experiences. The training is scheduled for Friday, January 18th from 8:30-3:30 in the Chattanooga Room at UTC’s University Center. The training will involve 100 representatives from the 20 Future Ready Institutes in Hamilton County Schools.
“Word of mouth is the most effective way to communicate the benefits of Future Ready Institutes, and when students in the programs share their story, the message can make a significant impact on others who will benefit from the Future Ready Institute experience,” said Blake Freeman, director of Future Ready Institutes in Hamilton County Schools. “We look forward to our students participating in this training so they will be able to effectively share their great experiences regarding how Future Ready Institutes are preparing them for future success.”
Each of the 20 Future Ready Institutes in Hamilton County Schools will send five students chosen through an application and interview process to the training. The National Career Academy Coalition will lead the sessions focused on the role of the ambassador, understanding Future Ready Institutes, and effective communication. Students participating in the one-day session will receive a National Career Academy Coalition Student Brand Ambassador Certification.
Applications for students to enroll in a Future Ready Institute will open on February 1, 2019. A Future Ready Institute information night will be held at the Unum downtown location on February 19 from 5 to 7 p.m. All 20 Future Ready Institutes will be at Unum to share information about programs available. Individual schools will also hold events at the home schools during the registration period to showcase their programs and answer parent and student questions.
Future Ready Institutes provide students with a unique learning environment that tailors their education to career-themed subjects. Each institute has its unique curriculum with career teachers working hand-in-hand with academic subject teachers to make learning meaningful for each participant. Participants also have opportunities for college credits and industry-based certifications. The goal of Future Ready Institutes is to help high school students jump-start their college education, collaborate with local business professionals and work toward a future career.
