Travis Miller

Hello, My Name Is...

Mr. Miller!

This is Mr. Miller in Denmark. Say "cheese"!
(This was on a trip to Denmark. Say "cheese"!)

I am thrilled to be your US history teacher this year!

I hold a deep passion for US history and political science. My favorite time period to study is 20th century world history, which you simply can't talk about without bringing America into the picture, and much of what established America in the forefront of this time period was a culmination of political and economic occurrences that transpired over the 18th and 19th centuries. Wow, I'm starting to go down some rabbit holes already!

I've previously taught in US history classrooms (both middle and high school) in Athens, Georgia. I'm also a University of Georgia alum, having graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs and a Master of Arts in Teaching. I have a variety of background experience prior to teaching that will hopefully lead to our classroom being a dynamic, culturally-responsive environment. I worked for several years as a social worker and federal grant coordinator for a refugee resettlement center in New York, as well as spending time writing for advertising firms and at the Carter Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

In my free time, I love to travel anywhere I can go! I've been fortunate to visit all fifty US states and over thirty countries, and I hope to add to the latter total in the near future. I also play guitar, read a great deal, hike and watch basketball (I'll be coaching the girls' team this season -- go Blue Knights!)

Please feel free to email me with any questions or concerns you have throughout the year. Let's get to learning!
